American cellist Sifei Wen has earned widespread recognition for her flawless technique, expressive musicality, and her remarkable range of tonal colors. Her artistry has captivated audiences worldwide, and she has distinguished herself as a recitalist, orchestral soloist, and chamber musician. Notable performances include appearances on the internationally televised Hour of Power, broadcasts on K. Mozart, the leading classical radio station in the United States, and performances at the Forbes Annual Gala in Bulgaria. Sifei has graced stages at the Festival de San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, served as a soloist with the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra, the USC Thornton Symphony, and the Sofia Soloists in Bulgaria Hall. Her mature phrasing, virtuosic technique, and beautiful tone have led authorities in music to praise her as one of the most talented and promising cellists of her generation.
Sifei Wen’s performances have been recognized with numerous top prizes, including awards from the USC Thornton School of Music Strings Concerto Competition, the 25th Kingsville International Young Performers Competition for Bowed Instruments (including the Rosemary Scales Violoncello Prize and the Senior Munguia Bach Prize for her outstanding Bach interpretation), and the 51st Young Musicians Foundation Debut Concerto Competition (Senior). She has also been honored in the National Debut Concerto Competition, the Torrance Symphony Young Artists Concerto Competition (Senior), the National American String Teachers Association Solo Competition (Junior), and the Music Teachers’ Association of California VOCE Solo State Competition (Senior and Intermediate Strings). Her recognition extends to the 4th National Violoncello Competition in China and several concerto competitions with symphony orchestras such as the Peninsula Symphony, Culver City-Marina del Rey, Westchester Symphony, Brentwood-Westwood Symphony Orchestra, and the Pacific Symphony Chinese-American League Showcase Competition. Sifei attended the Nineteenth Biannual Gregor Piatigorsky Seminar for Cellists at USC as a scholarship student and recitalist. Among her many scholarships are the Rotary Club Memorial Music Scholarship, Gregor Piatigorsky Memorial Cello Scholarship, Los Angeles Violoncello Society Scholarship, and a USC Thornton School of Music Scholarship.
Originally from Shanghai, Sifei began studying cello at age 8 with Professor MeiJuan Lui at the Shanghai Conservatory. At 13, she moved to the United States, continuing her studies with Eleonore Schoenfeld, Professor at USC Thornton School of Music and Chair of the USC Strings Department. After Professor Schoenfeld’s passing, Sifei relocated to New Haven to study under Professor Aldo Parisot at the Yale School of Music. She is a member of the American String Teachers Association, the Los Angeles Violoncello Society, and the Chinese Bowed Instruments Association.
Beginning in 2008, Sifei studied privately with Bulgarian violinist Daniel M. Tringov, who helped her develop a unique hybrid technique melding cello and violin, which became a signature element of her personal artistry. This innovation contributed to her distinctive and rare tonal quality.
Under Tringov’s guidance, Sifei embarked on an ambitious project to interpret Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in its original version. She premiered all four concertos with the Sofia Soloists at Bulgaria Hall in 2014, performing to a packed house. The success of these performances led to further opportunities with orchestras throughout Bulgaria. In 2016–2017, she performed chamber music concerts with Bulgarian pianist Georgii Tcherkin and formed the String Art Quartet with Tringov, where she played all the viola parts on the cello in an ensemble featuring two violins and two cellos.
Between 2018 and 2020, Sifei recorded three albums at Dorian Gray, a renowned music studio: "Vivaldi – Four Cello Seasons," "Bach – Six Cello Solo Suites," "Brahms – Two Cello and Piano Sonatas," and "Schumann – Cello and Piano Pieces." These projects led to invitations to perform at the Mondo Musica International Exhibition in Cremona, Italy, and to collaborate with fashion brand PLAKINGER in Germany.
In 2021, Sifei became a YouTube Artist with the release of her solo album "Noel Cello Angel," also published on Apple Music and other platforms. She presented this album live at Arsenal Hall in Kazanlak, Bulgaria, as part of the annual Rose Festival program. In addition to her performing career, Sifei co-founded the German record label Deutsche Classical in Munich in 2019 with Daniel M. Tringov and has been appointed as a Director for GOD Art Universe, Global APP Network, and Global ART Entertainment.
In 2025, Sifei Wen will release a music video featuring her performance of British composer Nimrod Borenstein’s "Soliloquy," further expanding her body of work and artistic reach.

These new recordings are scheduled for release in 2025.
